It’s not enough to write really bad poetry
You need to slather yourself in it
Bathe in it
The more putrid the better

Blind yourself looking at it
Take it and shake it

Rake it up and put it in bags
Set it out along your driveway
Let the neighbors admire

It’s like real bling
You gotta feel the weight of it
Flash it and not be ashamed

I’m not talking about digging in the trash for gems
I’m talking about throwing down
Messing around

Reaching into the fire
Getting burned

Getting fast
Being unafraid

Knowing what true pain is
What burns
And what stands apart
