Keys & Trees

DSC02018

When I am behind the computer I write poetry
Clicking on the keys

When I am outside I carry a notebook
But often poetry is in the trees

So I can think of no
Better lines than these:

Duarte, Toka
Superior, Waneta

Early sugar, Early laxton
Black ice, Sweet treat

Bella rebella, William’s pride
Sweet sixteen, Prairie spy

Ashmead’s kernal, Newton pippen
Pristine, Cox orange pippen

Black Tartarian, Allegheny
Susquehanna, Shenandoah

Prolific, Early golden
Pawnee, Kanza and Lakota

Sticks and pencils, pages and leaves
Scions and keys, poems and trees

If I was still a kid I’d be playing jump rope games with these. Very very cool poem….!
