Ideology of Poetry

persepolis-3

“They do not know it, but they are doing it”
So poetry must be this
Same kind of ideology
Where intent and significance are bled out completely

Something about speaking Arabic on airplanes
Just to frighten the uptight
White ladies who watched too much Homeland on TV
But nothing too poetical

Something about the kids playing at war in the woods
Then asking who the enemy was
And laughing to hear it is the Germans
We are still fighting the Germans

And oh
Something about the idolatry of STEM
And how the fascists flash muscles
For, as Dudley says
“A rope’s as tight, a fire as hot,
No matter how much cash you’ve got.”

“They do not know it, but they are doing it”
So poetry must be this same kind of ideology
