As Green As

chris gonso

Now I see smooth green snakes
In elderberry shoots
As green as green is green
Where once I carried the bees’ bags
Topped with pink pollen
To an ornery cuss, slow as Sturgill Simpson in bloom

Now I see rough green snakes
In elderberry shoots
As green as green is green
Where once I rode the little black train
Shiny with worldly wonder
To shout at the very nothing of nothingness

Now I see the keels have gone, now I see the keels
Now I see the wheel has gone, now I see the wheel
The rough green snake, the smooth green snake
As green as green is green

      1. Yeah, me too. Heard of him with the singles for “A Sailor’s Guide to Earth”. Idk if you have a public radio station that plays that style music in your area, but I can recommend one that does a Very Good job of digging up new and notable music.

      2. I heard it on our Bloomington radio station. They play pretty good music. Not much country though. I’ve learned of a few new groups from that radio station since both my truck and car steros have been broken over a year now. I don’t listen to music from a computer much. Just CDs, radio and old tapes. And one of these days maybe I’ll figure a way to hook up my old records. I’ve got about 5-6 feet of interesting stuff there that I haven’t listened to in 10 or 15 years now.

      3. I listen to radio and stream music at work. I was going to suggest streaming the Louisville station, good quality programs. Wish I had a larger collection of music…

      4. I kindof miss working just for the music listening part. 🙂
He is from KY too. I’d like to go back to KY, some of the friendliest people there I would say.
